Circle of Friends Campaign Begins Strong with Collaborative for Children Staff

Each year, our Circle of Friends annual fund campaign starts with staff. This year, our staff donated more than $30,000, which is a significant increase from $12,000 in 2014, to continue our work to improve the quality of early childhood education and care for Greater Houston’s children. This special gift signifies a growing staff and a growing commitment to our mission.

At a staff campaign celebration this week, a check was presented to Carol Shattuck, Collaborative for Children president and CEO, from Chrystal Rivers, annual fund manager, on behalf of the staff.

“It warms my heart to see our staff continue to support the agency in this way,” said Carol. “Our staff work tirelessly every day in our community to make a difference in the lives of children and their families.”

During the staff celebration, Olga Zavala and Carmen Hernandez, parent educator consultants, shared why giving to our Circle of Friends campaign is so important. “Being a part of Circle of Friends is a way for me to lead by example,” said Olga. “How can I ask others to give if I’m not 100 percent in support of the agency?”

“Giving back to the agency not only supports our programs and community, but it supports our staff, who are like my family,” said Carmen.

Since 2010, Circle of Friends has dedicated millions of dollars to Collaborative for Children’s highest priority needs, setting the standard for early childhood education in Greater Houston. Circle of Friends is a collective giving society where industry professionals, parents, educators and community leaders unite in their commitment to provide quality learning to all children through their individual impact.
