Leadership in Action Award Presented to
Collaborative for Children by Leadership Houston

Collaborative for Children, lead agency for the Texas Gulf Coast Region Hurricane Ike Child Care Recovery Project, has won Leadership Houston's 2009 Leadership in Action Award in the category of Children, Youth & Families for child care recovery efforts post-Hurricane Ike!

The award was presented to Carol Shattuck along with eight staff members at the Leadership Houston luncheon held at River Oaks Country Club on Wednesday, June 24.

Generous donations from individuals, corporations, and foundations provided over $2 MM in funding to restore damaged classroom materials and toys, repair playground equipment and fencing, and repair water damage for over 330 child care programs in the community.

Collaborative for Children staff is grateful to all of the community partners who worked alongside us to restore services to over 16,000 children and families impacted by the storm!
