College Bound from Birth
It began with a bold vision in 2007: what was possible if Houston’s leading health, education and civic organizations worked together to build a career-bound environment for children in Houston’s most under-resourced neighborhoods? The College Bound from Birth project was born in response, uniting the talents and resources of 15 collaborating partners, including Texas Pediatric Associates, the Houston Independent School District, and the City of Houston Health and Human Services Department. Together, we are working to improve kindergarten readiness, third grade reading scores and, ultimately, high school graduation and college participation rates among youth living in under-resourced communities, beginning with Houston’s Sunnyside/South Park neighborhood.
College Bound from Birth is evaluated by Research and Evaluation Services of Texas in partnership with Dr. Ralph Culler and Dr. Nicole Andrews.
